India’s two largest telecom companies Jio and Airtel have given a big shock to the people of India because both the companies have significantly increased the tariffs of mobile plans. And their plans will go live on 3rd July 2024 at 12 midnight. Both the telecom companies have increased their plans by about 20%. We’ll take a closer look at how much each company has increased their plans and which one might be the more affordable option for you.

Let’s look at 2-month and 3-month plans. Airtel’s 2-month 1.5 GB/day plan has seen an increase of 20.88%, which is similar to Jio’s percentage increase. The increase for the 3-month Airtel plan is around the 20% mark, similar to Jio.

Still, if the prices of the plans are compared, Jio’s plans are still much cheaper than Airtel. The 2 GB/day 2-month plan on Jio will cost you Rs 629, while on Airtel, the same plan will cost you Rs 649. The 2 GB/day 3-month plan will cost you Rs 859 on Jio, but Rs 979 on Airtel.

Jio and Airtel Recharge Annual Plans

Jio has more options when it comes to annual entitlements. In this plan of Rs 1899 (earlier Rs 1559), 24 GB for 336 days with unlimited voice is being offered. Your actual annual enrollment price for both carriers for 365 days will be the same – INR 3599.

Whereas, Jio offers more data, 2.5 GB/day, while Airtel offers 2 GB/day. If we talk about the price increase, both the operators have increased the prices by Rs 600, which is 20% more than the previous price of the plan.

When it comes to data add-ons, it seems like Jio’s percentage has gone higher, especially for 1GB and 2GB add-ons. Jio’s 1GB add-on grew by 26.67%, much higher than Airtel’s 15.79%. Nevertheless, Jio still looks cheaper than Airtel even after the significant price hike.

It was concluded that who has more recharge after recharge recharge – it is Jio. Now, I am not saying that you should immediately take action and switch to Jio. Consider subscribing to the annual plan before July 3, 2024 for the best savings. If you are not comfortable with the annual plan then you can decide as per your wish.
